We're thrilled to announce the launch of the country’s only dedicated road cycling publiNZRCcation - New Zealand Road Cyclist.
Targeted specifically at recreational road cyclists, the first issue - which is a bumper at 116 pages - went on sale 25th October 2010.
Publisher Chris Gaskell says the upcoming launch of New Zealand Road Cyclist follows intensive research and is being produced to meet the demand for credible information from non-elite cyclists – the enthusiastic ‘weekend warriors’ who make up the vast majority of New Zealand’s road cyclists.
The magazine’s launch comes at a time when New Zealand cycling is on a high and offers the cycling industry a much-needed medium to reach the growing number of Kiwis for whom cycling is much more than a hobby.
SPARC’s Active NZ Survey revealed that 745,000 New Zealanders aged 16 and over cycle as a leisure activity; 351,000 people road bike in any one month; and 61,000 people participated in an organised road cycling competition or event in the past 12 months.
For these people cycling is a passion – and Spot On Publications’ research has shown they’re hungry for information on the cycles and cycling-related products which are going to help them get more enjoyment from their sport.
New Zealand RoadCyclist - which will be edited by Christchurch-based cycling identity John McKenzie - will capture all aspects of road cycling from a distinctly Kiwi perspective and present it in a format that aims to inform, inspire, educate and entertain the readers,” says Chris.
“Written by cyclists for cyclists, each issue of New Zealand Road Cyclist will contain a mix of practical and informative articles, which will sit alongside entertaining and inspirational main features.
“Our focus group research has shown that’s an editorial environment that will provide fertile ground for advertisers to promote the cycles and cycling products that our readers crave to help them ride better, ride faster, ride stronger.”

New Zealand’s only dedicated road cycling magazine, New Zealand Road Cyclist is full-colour, A4, published bi-monthly and distributed nationally via supermarkets, book shops, magazine outlets, cycle shops and a subscriber base.
